Roger asks "What is the problem?" This is bizarre.

The problem is that Harkat was arrested and jailed in December 2002 and it's now 2008 and he still hasn't had a fair trial. He hasn't even had any charges laid against him. Only allegations.

Now a whole new set of allegations have been published in the newspapers.

The Supreme Court of Canada unanimously declared The Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA ) UNCONSTITUTIONAL. It is this immigration law which permits arrest and detention without charge, secret evidence and secret trials. And so there are at least nine people who disagree with you, Roger. The nine Supreme Court justices declared in February 2007 that there is indeed a problem with security certificates and deportation to torture. Still, Hassan Almrei remains in solitary confinement in a Kingston jail. Why? He has never been charged with any crime. But he has been incarcerated for six years without charge through the power of a law that has been declared unconstitutional. This makes a mockery of our justice system. It is plain. Human rights and democracy mean nothing in Canada.

Well by reading the recent allegations made by the SCRS it is easy to see than Mr Harkat is possibly linked one way or another to terrorist organisation. So he deserve either: A fair trial or; depending of his status, to be extradited from Canada. So what is the problem ? why all that noise ? It is simply the law. In USA he would still be in jail.

  Hi there.

While I publish a magazine that doesn't talk about any issue that concerns your husband's case - I am writing as a fellow Ottawan. I just wanted to send a message of support to you.

I am left shaking my head today that you and Mohamed have another hurdle to jump courtesy of our federal government.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what they are doing. Stand up to them once more. You're stronger than they are.

It's just another attempt for them to bolster their position and to justify their actions.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but as they say - the only way through it is through it. Be strong and know that there are many people on your side wishing you peace and comfort.

Cheers

Evan, thanks for signing our guestbook and showing your solidarity with Mr. Harkat.

Visiting this Website means you're seeking out alternative news and information about Mohamed Harkat and about security certificates. That's a great first step.

What else can you do? You can talk about what is being done to Mohamed Harkat with your friends and family. Write about it on Facebook or Myspace or your blog if you have one.

Know that when civil liberties get taken away - for reasons of security, anti-terrorism or whatever - they rarely are given back. Today it might be immigrants or Muslims who are being targeted as "the enemy" but tomorrow it might be a group *you* belong to.

The Harkat Committee is asking people to write their MPs and tell them to vote against Bill C-3 which is the "new and improved" security certificate law. Here is the contact info for all the MPs in Canada.

You can find yours there.
